The FreeWave ZumLink Z9-P is a compact, high-performance board-level radio module. It is designed for rugged wireless data networks in industrial environments. Additionally, it operates in the unlicensed 902-928 MHz band. It uses FHSS (Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum) to deliver secure connectivity. RF link rates reach up to 4 Mbps and line-of-sight ranges up to 97 km (60 mi).
It supports advanced features like 128-bit/256-bit AES encryption. Furthermore, it benefits from FreeWave’s “ZumBoost” network-acceleration technologies (packet compression, aggregation, adaptive spectrum learning) for optimized throughput and reliability.
Built for demanding installations, the Z9-P board-level unit is Class I Division 2 ready, operates from –40 °C to +85 °C (depending on variant) and draws low current—making it ideal for remote telecommunications, oil & gas, precision agriculture, smart-city infrastructure and IIoT networks.
Key features include:
- Operates in 902-928 MHz band, with RF link rates from 80 kbps to 4 Mbps.
- Long range: Up to 97 km (60 mi) in clear line-of-sight.
- Low power consumption: ~355-377 mA at 12 V in transmit, ~145-159 mA in receive.
- Secure communications: FHSS, 128-/256-bit AES encryption, SSH/SNMP management.
- Industrial grade: Class I Div 2 certified board-level module for hazardous locations.
- Supports third-party applications via ZumIQ Application Environment on Linux platform.
